What is Vacuum Forming?
The process...
A sheet of plastic* up to 3/8" (.375) thick is locked into a carrier frame and heated between two radiant heaters (left illustration). The softened pliable material is then seated over a mold and sealed with pressure around the perimeter. The air is then evacuated from the mold, the plastic material is drawn down and molded precisely into shape (right). After a brief cooling period, the formed part is lifted from the mold (bottom).

* Plastic material can be one of many varieties including, polyvinyl, HIS, ABS, PETG, polyethylene, Polycarbonate, LDPE, HDPE, polypropylene, and many other materials.
